Thump

Cats go thump, thump, thump. This is especially true for Oscar. Oscar is my friends 6 toed cat. He is awesome and very beautiful. Sorry I don't have a picture of him, but will get one. Oscar lives in a house with two other cats that he loves to irritate. But hey when your awesome you get away with it right. Maybe so. Anyway my friend and her mom were watching television and heard a noise and started looking for the source, totally expecting it to be Oscar of course, after looking in the bedrooms and not finding him my friend looked in the bathroom and still didn't find him till she looked up on the cupboard and there he was. She said it startled her, and she tried to get him to come back down but he wouldn't. She figured he needed help down as he didn't know how to get back down. Sorry my friend he did know how to get down he was just playing on your sympathy. Cats like high, very high and down low under any where that they feel safe. These are passed down from generations of cats, going back to the beginning of time. Hiding is a specialty of my cats, and most others. They go where you least expect and if choose not to be found, there you go can't find the cat. My Jinx is a master of masters at hiding, and when she chooses not to be found even the treat bag shake will not drag her out from wherever she is. Mystery never solved. So that thump in the night or day is probably your furry baby finding a special place to hide. Happy Cat.

Now they can Read?

Not only have they learned to use the computer they now can read. I have very smart cats, yes indeed. I hope Phantom's tail was entertaining? Things have been interesting around lately. Jezzebel has decided that she just isn't going to take any more crap from the big cats. They have taken over the bed and she decided to take it back and not let them tell her she can not sleep on the bed with mom. And Jinx decided the same thing, it is a bit difficult to sleep with 4 cats on the bed. Thank goodness Sophia prefers sleeping near Jake the dog. As I mentioned Jake is very sick, and we are making him comfortable and Sophia just sticks tight to him. More on this at a later time. Frankly I need to kick them all off the bed and just shut the bedroom door. But I am sure Phantom will sit outside the door and scratch at the door. He is really cute as he stands on his hind legs and paws at the door to get in or out. Jekyll will sit outside the door and just stare at it, hoping by some miracle it will magically open. So as I share the bed with these crazy cats I am lucky to get any sleep. On that note the alarm goes off early so Good Night. Silly Cats, Sleepy Mom.

Phantom tells a tail.

I'm taking over for mom tonight, she is not feeling really well. She has a sore back today. Poor mom turned the wrong way and it is really hurting. So my tail of the evening is about Jekyll. Jekyll has a box and he just loves that box. Mom got him a bigger box put he likes the small one. Poor gut barely fits in that box but mom thinks if she takes it away he will be sad. So Jekyll gets to keep it, I like the bigger one it has a nice soft blanket in it and is comfy. Jekyll is an odd fellow but he is really very sweet and he likes to play with me and chase around the house and we have fun. I especially like it when we chase Jezz around the house it makes her very crabby. Jekyll also likes to sleep a lot, he is really a lazy boy and I think he just sleeps and sleeps all the time. Mom said cats like to sleep and can sleep up to 18 hours a day. Wow we sure do sleep a lot. Jekyll is also scared of thunder storms. We heard thunder a few nights ago, and Jekyll took off looking for somewhere to hide. So did Jezzebel, she hates storms too. Jekyll is also a fraidy cat whenever he hears loud noises, those can make him jump really high and make mom laugh. If he is sleeping and gets startled he jumps right up and looks around to see what it was, usually nothing. Well that's all for tonight, mom said to quit tattling on Jekyll and behave. Happy Cat

Sunning Kitty's.

Well today the kitty's are very happy. The sun is shining and they have all found a sunbeam to occupy. They all have cabin fever, or maybe that is just me. Yup it's me. Yesterday they all were a bit testy and really wanted all of my attention, so I didn't get anything done after work, and barely got dinner fixed. If someone wasn't in my face, someone was chasing someone else, and carrying on like crazy alien's. Yes aliens that wanted to take over my world, just mine, but I was ready to let them drive anyone else crazy that was willing to take them, can have them. But today all is pretty quite except for Jinx who has learned to type, and wanted to help on today's musings. So I am going to let her take over and entertain you with more Zen Cat......... Cats Checking In

Good day everyone. We had a busy day, and just thought we would check in. Mom went to work and we all drove those who didn't have school or work today due to Presidents Day. We love that. But our mom had to work as her jobs is 365 days a year. No holidays in her business. Now mom does get days off but not on days like today. So mom is tired and we thought we would fill in. So here goes, we have some Zen Cat thoughts for you...... These are by various people great and maybe not so great but sure do apply to cats, aren't we just wonderful?...... Dream Territory for an Indoor Cat

All a cat wants is space. So in order to make everyone happy, create a space that is cat friendly if you can. Here are some suggestions that I read in a book titled "Kittens" by Author Brigitte Eilert-Overbeck. All cats like to be under things may it be a blanket, bed covers, tablecloths that hang to the floor, behind curtains. They also like to look down on everything. High places are the best, the tops of cupboards, high dressers, book shelves and such. In order to create safe places, make sure that if the kitty likes high places that the spots are clear of breakables and special items that you like, as things that go bump in the night knock things over. If you can some cats like to go outside, but this has certain dangers. The best options are a leash with a breakaway collar, and you on hand to make sure they are safe. Another option would be to make an enclosure out of chicken wire, big enough so as not to make them feel confined. Kittys like tall scratching posts that they can climb on and stretch. Also fleece blankets on the back of a couch is really appreciated. Sometimes your favorite chair is the most comfortable spot in the house, and your cat just wants you to deal with it. And on that note we would like to leave you this thought by Italo Calvino....... The city of CATS and the city of MEN exist one inside the other, but they are not the same city.

Happy Valentine's Day

The gang and I would like to say Happy Valentine's Day to everyone. We are all having a good day after a rocky start. I was a little late getting up so I had to rush around. Then on the way home I forgot to stop and get canned cat food as that is what the gang has for their afternoon snack. Let me tell you about the dirty looks that I kept getting. Really sometimes I just need to come home first. I had some bills to take care of and had forgot to get the bill, so of course I came home. Well Her Highness was shooting daggers my way because she was hungry, and of course I must of forgot to fill the dishes to the brim this morning. Oh please your Highness forgive me. I did redeem myself and brought home some tasty fish guts and whatever other kinds of lovely things they put in those little cans of cat food. Really canned dog food is really more appealing. I remember that when my oldest son was little he ate some canned dog food, that he really thought was quite tasty. It was called Grand Gourmet. It actually looked and smelled good, not that I would have tried it, but he decided to try it one day when he was going out to feed his dog, and reported back to me that it was really good Mom. Go figure. Well I'm off to see Miss Kitty on Saturday, and I am sure we will have a wonderful visit. I'll bring back some adorable pictures of her I am sure, she is quite the thing. Take care and we'll see you later. Happy cat.

Cats and Damage.

Yes cats create damage. Lets see at my house I have various scratching post. Jinx prefers the chair, couch, the wall any surface will do. Miss Jinx has razor sharp claws. She regularly needs them clipped, thus I have a cat claw clipper my daughter in law. What a great girl. So Miss Jinx gets squirted with the water bottle often, and she hates it. One solution is to redirect her attention, so I get out a bit of catnip and put it where I want her to go do her scratching, and this works for awhile. Another thing that has been damaged are the mini blinds. This would be Miss Jezz, she loves to look out the windows, all cats do but with winter upon us I keep the blinds down and the curtains closed, but she has managed to get herself around all of that and damaged the blind. She sticks her head between the slats and then of course gets stuck, and when she frees herself breaks the blinds. Best to keep them up about five inches or so as to prevent that damage. If you like soft fluffy blankets put them up when you are done with them or they become the property of the cat. I have two blankets that were made for me by very special people out of fleece and this is the choices of choice for cats, they love it and their fur sticks to it like glue. Best to make your babies their own blankets. Keep them washed though, use a special brush you can buy, brush it off and then wash them. Cats do not like stinky blankets, just ask mine. The dog got on one of them and the cats wouldn't get near it till I washed it. If you have plants keep them out of reach if possible. Cats like to dig in them, and some are very toxic. I have a large floor plant that I keep rocks on top of the soil so they cannot dig in it. Cause you just know they think this is a new litter box. So if you have furry bundles of joy, you pretty much have to cat proof everything. Oh and don't lock a cat in your closet, it can be very distressing for the cat and for you when you figure out that's where you left the cat. I have had my whole closet rearranged, let alone the poor thing had to poo. Well my fault, and lucky for me no real damage to my things just a stressed out cat. So just think of them a toddlers and you will pretty much have it nailed on the head when it comes to dealing with the things they get into. Well till next time. Happy Cat.

I am Jekyll

Hi my name is Jekyll. I am a happy boy, and I do not get into to much trouble. I like attention, and I did learn to type (that got me a lot of attention, meow) Mom was busy so I thought I would catch everyone up on what was going on. Well we did sniff out the cat who knocked over the toy basket, it was Jinx, yaa she looked so innocence. She just happen to do it again later and it was in the process of her running through the house like a crazy cat. That would be like mom says her butt was on fire. Well mystery solved. We had a really good day over all on Sunday. Mom cleaned out our litter boxes and put brand new fresh litter in them, how nice. She washed our blankets and found a new bag of treats she forgot that she bought, talk about being in kitty heaven. I chased Jezzebel around the house a couple of times. This was only to make her mad, I love doing that. And guess what, mom just ignored us. That was great. Then I decided to chase Sophia, and mom got irritated over that because Sophia is so little and mild mannered. I just hate that because Sophia is a dog lover, she really likes the dog better than us. We don't mind the dog being here, but really he's a dog for crying out loud. I also like to take naps, long cozy naps curled up on the bed, I either go in the boy's room or mom's. I really like when she boots me off of the bed to make it and I run up and get under the blanket when she is flinging it over the bed, great fun as I chase the blanket and catch it and mom yells. Well it is nap time, so hope everyone has a good nigh. (Yawn)Happy Jekyll.

We have no idea how that happen Mom

We have no idea how this happen, it was knocked over when we came out here, someone else did it. This is a common thing at our house, no one knows who did it. I can walk out of a perfectly picked up room and come back in and something has been knocked over or toys laying all over. I understand that they are like children, they make messes, but really can it be longer than 5 minutes? So as you can see Jinx is just idling standing by, she didn't do it I mean really she looks so innocent. Don't let that fluffy little fur ball fool you. She is the one who runs through the house like her behind is on fire for no reason. As she did yesterday and all of the rest of the cats were wondering what the heck was going on you could see it on their faces. As for the toys knocked over Jekyll tried to sniff out the guilty one but gave up and took a nap. Oh well that's fine, I'll pick it up. Happy Cats

Concerned Pet Owner

I just wanted to touch on a subject that may or may not anger some people, but as this is my blog I can pretty much say what I want. As most of you have gathered I am pretty much a crazy cat lady. I also have very strong feelings about how people treat their pets, babies and senior citizens. DO NOT HURT ANY OF THEM. The subject I would like to talk about today is tragic. It was brought to my attention that a lady whom I will not use her name only that she is an idiot. I was told that her poor little dog died giving birth to yet another litter of puppies. This woman was so money hungry that she bred this dog three times in one year. The dog never had time to recover from the previous births. The poor little dog could not handle giving birth so soon after her last litter, and the woman did not get proper vet care for the dog either. Greed makes people do stupid things, and at the expense of other beings. Very sad. I am totally an advocate of spaying or neutering your pet. I understand that people do breed their animals for pleasure and for the sale of animals, but I just wish that they would all be responsible when they do so, as it is very tragic to the animal to lose it's life to being bred to often and without heed for there well being. I understand if I have made someone mad with this rant but I just had to say something about it. In my world God created all things big and small, and I think as humans we have an obligation to make sure all is safe. A pet is like a happy place, and if you have a heart keep your happy place safe. Sad Cats.

Poems by cats.

Hi I'm back I see my little darlings filled in for me when I was so engrossed in a new book I had got at the library. They did a really good job. Well we will see if we can bring you some more poems from cats. I really enjoyed the book. So here goes. I could Pee on this Her new sweater doesn't smell of me I could pee on that She's gone for the day and left her laptop on the counter I could pee on that Her new boyfriend just pushed my head away I could pee on him She's ignoring me ignoring her I could pee everywhere She's making up for it by putting me on her lap I could pee on this I could pee on this I really enjoyed this poem, and I can tell you seriously that cats are very vengeful, ask me I know. When they are mad at mom they can come up with all sorts of things to do to make me wish I was on a deserted island in the Caribbean. As a matter of fact that is where I would like to be today, anyone want to send me on vacation? The cats and I all have cabin fever and if we get anymore snow I am not sure where we can put it. The cats hate that all the windows are covered up to help with the heating bill. Sorry babies it's only 41 days till spring. But then the yard will be flooded I am sure. Well on to making everyone happy, clean litter boxes, wash the food dishes, get fresh food, then I can relax. I'm glad I have tomorrow off. Tired Mom.

Mom Forgot.

We would like to apologize for our mom. Sometimes she just forgets that she was going to do something, like tell you about the cat book of poems. Well we will take care of that for her tonight. The title of the book is I Could Pee on This. It is by a man by the name of Francesco Marciuliano. He also does the comic Sally Forth, which you can view in most local newspapers. Anyway on with the poem, Jezzebel I can type this get out of the way, just read it to me. Didn't know we could type and read did you. We like these two, as it reminds us of Jekyll. So here goes and we promise mom will be done with the book she is reading tomorrow. Happy, happy Mom lost in her book. Goodnight, say goodnight Jezzebel. I Lick your Nose I lick your nose I lick your nose again I drag my claws down your eyelids Oh, you're up? Feed me. This is My Chair This is my chair This is my couch That is my bed That is my bench There is my chaise There is my settee Those are my footstools Those are my rugs Everywhere is my place to sleep Perhaps you should just get a hotel room

The Wisdom of Cats.

Jake the dog is Sophia's pet. I kid you not. Jake the dog is also sick. Nothing my babies can catch, but Jake is sick and his best friend Sophia knows this, she is usually found by his side, and sometime this annoys him but he usually doesn't care, especially now. Jake rests a lot, he is not at a point that he is suffering, and none of us here are looking forward to that, but Sophia knows that there is something very wrong with her boy. I just by chance caught the picture of Sophia snuggled up with her buddy, and had to get it. So I wanted to share it with you. Cats are wise, sometimes wise crackers but most often I find that their senses are so attuned to the people and other animals around them I find it kinda of spooky. A cat will comfort you as needed or they see fit, they do not ask for anything in return per say, just that you let them comfort you. A cat will shine upon you and make you laugh when you are blue, they will chase their tails to make you smile, and touch your face with a little paw as if to say I am here if you need me. A cat will not solve all your problems but just maybe make you forget them for a moment or two. Here is to my five wise cats, I love you. Have some catnip. Wise Cats, Peaceful Mom.
