Cats and Damage.

Yes cats create damage. Lets see at my house I have various scratching post. Jinx prefers the chair, couch, the wall any surface will do. Miss Jinx has razor sharp claws. She regularly needs them clipped, thus I have a cat claw clipper my daughter in law. What a great girl. So Miss Jinx gets squirted with the water bottle often, and she hates it. One solution is to redirect her attention, so I get out a bit of catnip and put it where I want her to go do her scratching, and this works for awhile. Another thing that has been damaged are the mini blinds. This would be Miss Jezz, she loves to look out the windows, all cats do but with winter upon us I keep the blinds down and the curtains closed, but she has managed to get herself around all of that and damaged the blind. She sticks her head between the slats and then of course gets stuck, and when she frees herself breaks the blinds. Best to keep them up about five inches or so as to prevent that damage. If you like soft fluffy blankets put them up when you are done with them or they become the property of the cat. I have two blankets that were made for me by very special people out of fleece and this is the choices of choice for cats, they love it and their fur sticks to it like glue. Best to make your babies their own blankets. Keep them washed though, use a special brush you can buy, brush it off and then wash them. Cats do not like stinky blankets, just ask mine. The dog got on one of them and the cats wouldn't get near it till I washed it. If you have plants keep them out of reach if possible. Cats like to dig in them, and some are very toxic. I have a large floor plant that I keep rocks on top of the soil so they cannot dig in it. Cause you just know they think this is a new litter box. So if you have furry bundles of joy, you pretty much have to cat proof everything. Oh and don't lock a cat in your closet, it can be very distressing for the cat and for you when you figure out that's where you left the cat. I have had my whole closet rearranged, let alone the poor thing had to poo. Well my fault, and lucky for me no real damage to my things just a stressed out cat. So just think of them a toddlers and you will pretty much have it nailed on the head when it comes to dealing with the things they get into. Well till next time. Happy Cat.
