Crabby Kitty

Today is Crabby Kitty day. Of all days a Monday no doubt. Now my son didn't have to work today and said everything was calm till I got home. Well of course this is the way things go. Mondays are my busy day, I have extra things to do at work and when I come home I am ready to relax. Plus the fact I didn't sleep well last night and was woke up at two in the morning because low and behold the food dishes were empty. Jezzebel woke me from a sound sleep crying which as with a child will wake you in an instant, all because she was hungry, this couldn't wait till three. So when I arrive home everyone expects to be fed their canned food, we cannot wait until I take off my boots or coat, we must be fed NOW! This taken care of I sit down with a nice cup of coffee, thanks for the new coffee maker mom it's super. Time to check my email and some other business, but no Jezzebel must sit on the keyboard, move over no not there here this chair, no not in my face and on it goes. She then gets down and jumps on Phantom who she hates and they go at it, then Jekyll decides he must investigate and this just makes matters worse. I remove all cats from my sight and sit back down, well the coffee is cold the cats are unhappy and I need a nap. You still want a cat? I have one or two you can have. Tired Mom, Unhappy Cats.

A note from Kitty Momma

Good Morning. The holidays are winding down, New Year's Eve is upon us. For anyone who can, think about taking a bag of food or a donation of money to your local shelter or rescue site for all the lonely Kitties and dogs. If you have babies of your own, please if they have not been spay or neuter look into services to do so. There are so many unwanted animals in this country. Breaks my heart. If you can and are able adopt a shelter or rescue site animal. They are so worth it. So you still want a cat, ask me how I manage be glad to give you some pointers. I am a crazy cat lady but they bring me a lot of fun and furry happiness. Happy mom.

What we didn't get anything for Christmas.

I got up this morning and thought I didn't get my own furry babies anything for Christmas. I gave presents to Miss Kitty and Oscar, but not to my kitties. Wonder how that happen. Maybe that is because every morning I wake up with mice laying all over the house, not fun to step on cause makes you wonder what it is in the semi dark. Kinda like stepping on Lego's when my kids where little. But then I thought, they do have warm beds and plenty of food and hey they have ME. I know some people think wow giving the cat a present, crazy cat people like me do those things. Oh yes we do. One year I made blankets for my girls, and the next year they got a fluffy cozy bed, which all three could cozy up in, but Jezzebel decided it was her's and no one else got to use it for about two months. But this year I just didn't do anything special for them. I of course know that they do not know the difference, but I did. Makes you wonder if at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve when according to an old folk tale animals could talk, wonder what they were saying. Geesh Sophia there isn't anything under the tree for us, oh wait nope that's for our cousin Miss Kitty. Oscar how did he rate? It's okay Jinx, Kitty Momma loves us and keeps us warm and feeds us. We are very lucky Kitties except when she brought those two big boy cats home, what was she thinking? Happy Holidays From Her Highness (Jezzebel) Jinx, Sophia, Black Cat (Jekyll), and Mr. Needs all the attention. (Phantom)

Baby it's cold outside.

On Saturday December 21, our state was hit by an ice storm, and wow what a mess. I only lost my power for about five minutes, and felt very fortunate. Some people in our area are still without power. I am not sure how I would have coped with five cats and one dog. Of course they do have fur, but still the cold does effect them. Especially cats, if you have one you know that any blanket not tied down is fair game for a cozy cover up, you know that lump underneath it is not a bed made wrong it is a cat. Cat's internal temperature is much warmer than ours. They can if given a good place to stay can of course stay outside if that is the type of cat they are. You just need to make sure if they are barn cats there is plenty of wind cover and a small shelter with a blanket to get into. A dog house is even ideal that has straw around it and bedding inside. Make sure they have fresh water, as of course it freezes. Also please watch all your animals for signs of stress in the cold weather. Jake the dog loves to go outside and roll in the snow, and as he is a long haired dog, he gets lots of snow balls attached to his fur, you have to stop him at the door and check the pads of his feet for snow, also if you put salt down you need to make sure to wipe their feet with an washcloth rinsed in warm water. If they have any little cuts it will smart like heck and make them crabby. Also if you have any elderly neighbors with pets check in on them and see if the need any help walking the dog or such, they will appreciate it, and hey you might just get a warm feeling in your heart or a nice plate of chocolate chip cookies. Well I need to clean out the litter boxes and feed my furry babies, then on to other things like fluffing a cat or two. Happy Cats.

Happy Holidays from the Cat Clan and Momma

Everyone at our house, move Jinx I can type myself, you can't spell. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Okay down now. Go see Grandma. Anyway we would like to say may everyone have a blessed Holiday in whatever way you may celebrate the season. We are fortunate to have our health and though we are not wealthy, we are very wealthy in our family, friends and all the people who cross our paths. I am happy to have my furry babies (all rescued babies), who though at times can make me crazy are a great source of fun and amusement, as well as good companions. Yes sometimes they talk back, as all children do. So as this year winds down and moves on may everyone have big dreams, small dreams, wishful thinking and just some general good fun. May you all try and find good in a crazy world, love your family, make new friends and pay it forward. I understand that sometimes we feel like the world is trying to drag us down, but when that happens try to think of the good you do have. It may just be one small thing that makes you pause and smile, or make your heart skip a beat, the touch of a small paw on your cheek or a hug from someone you care about. Happy Cats.

Sophia and Mom

For some reason Sophia decided to grace me with her presence and curled up on a blanket that I had on the foot rest of my chair. I don't really get much time with Sophia as she is such a little loner. So I really enjoyed having her curled up with me. I gave her lots of petting and cats do like to be massaged, so she got one of those as well. Everyone one else was so jealous, but I wanted to give my baby girl all of the attention. Jekyll came around and thought he would join us, sorry dude was not happening. So he went back to the bedroom and proceeded to puke on the floor. Lovely. Now weather this was on purpose I do not know. Probably. I must say I had a good day and played with the cats and finished some projects that I needed to do. I never even got out of my pj's. Boy was I lazy. Mind you I sleep in sleep pants and tee shirts, so I was sort of dressed. As we had a terrible ice storm in our state, I wasn't going anywhere but here with my pretty babies. We did not lose our power thank goodness as many people did, otherwise I would of had five snarling cats and one dog in bed with me to keep warm. What a sight that would have been. Well must sign off have to clean litter boxes and put out fresh food, and water make the rounds and see that everyone is Happy. Happy Mom, hopefully Happy Cats.

Happy Cat Mom

Hi everyone just want to say I am a very happy cat mom. No I didn't get my Cat Nanny yet, but I did get my desktop computer back from the repair man, and I am dancing a jig I am so happy. Now I can proofread my blog better. Oh wait you have to be able to spell. Well everything has not be peachy on the kitty front, wow are they having Holiday stress or what, I'm fine thank you for asking, it's just the boys verus the girls. Last night Jekyll kept chasing Sophia and she would run then stop mid stride turn around and fight back Jekyll would sit down smack at her and then I would have to break it up. Then on to chasing Jinx well she is basically a lover and not a fighter. So she would just run where he couldn't get to her. He finally gave up and went to bed, thank godness, I was getting wore out squrting them with the water bottle. Well as I am still crocheting scarfs for family Sophia jumped in my yarn bag when I got up to get some water and in two seconds flat had made a mess of the yarn I was using. It was such a jumbled mess I had to tie off my work and for the next hour cussing under my breath I untangled the whole mess. Sophia sems very happy with herself over the whole thing. Then as I finished off my project Jezzebel decided she needed momma time up on my lap in the middle of the new project, boy I cannot catch a break. Well it was getting late and I just needed a furry love bug to pet and she was handy. So everyone settled down for the night and Jezzebel and I snoozed in the chair. Happy Jezzebel Happy Mom.

Being Ignored

Poor Jezzebel and Jinx. The norm around here was Jezzebel and Jinx shared my bed, one on the end and one curled up next to me. But recently the big cats Jekyll and Phantom have hogged the bed and I even want to sleep somewhere else. So Jezzebel has been sleeping curled up on the couch and Jinx under the Christmas tree. I feel like my poor little girls are being ignored. I think they do as well. So each day when I come home I give them alone time, just me and one of them at a time. Then of course one of the boys will see that they are not the center of attention and make Jezzebel crabby and she gets down from my lap hissing and spitting. Then Jekyll wants to chase Jinx around the house because he really wants to play, I am telling you those poor little girl cats see that big galoot coming at them and they freak out. So for now the shift in sleeping arrangements may or may not last long and I will have my bed back, and the girls will have there spots back as well. So as you can see having a large clan like I do the dynamics change almost daily, and somethings never change. I am always amazed by how they either interact or choose not to. The boy cats have been here for almost six months and Jezzebel still hates them, Sophia ignores them, Jinx tolerates them, and Jake the dog could care less. I for one would still like to find good homes for the boys even though I am not sure I really could let them go. So you see I really could use a cat nanny. Crabby Cats, Tired Mom.

Let me SLEEP!

I go to bed early and get up early. But when I am woke up by a 24 pound cat who thinks he just cannot not survive another two hours till I do get up for me to fill the food dishes, I just want to scream. Last week on two occasions I was woke up an hour before the alarm. Now that really wasn't to bad, but really. This morning I tried to put my head under the covers and turn my back on him, does not work. He tramped over the top of me and pawed the blankets and uncovered my head then he sticks his face in mine and meows. He is just so pitiful. I try to ignore him and roll over the other way, and again he crawls over me and starts pawing me. I finally just give up and get out of bed. I locate the food and fill the dish, no one else seems to be concerned they are all curled up so cute and peacefully sleeping. Wish I was. I get Jekyll settled down and he goes about the business of eating, okay I can get a little more sleep. Happy Jekyll. Tired Mom.

Blessed Be.

Most days I just want to have a good blog to share with you from the crazy cat bunch. Not today. I would just like to say that even though some days I feel like the world is dragging me down and I am tired from working long hours, I am Blessed. I have a wonderful mom who puts up with my nonsense, and supports me in most of my endeavors like this blog. A brother I don't understand most of the time but love him anyway. I have children whom I love dearly even if at times they make me crazier than the cats do, and my funny furry babies. I also am surrounded by good friends young and old. Sometimes I wish I could change my life and things be a little easier but over all it's been a good life. And what are a few bumps in the road. So I just want to say to all of you who have stopped by to see what we are up to most days, Thank you, and may you have few bumps in your road, good friends, family and furry babies to share your life with. Blessed Be.

Jekyll Move. Please!

Jekyll can never resist getting in the way of making the bed. But just trying to change the sheets and remake the bed is near impossible with a 24 pound cat trying to chase the sheet around the bed. I start by putting pillow cases on then the bottom sheet which he tries to get under as I am putting it on. Now my bed is against a wall so I have to crawl over to get the corners on and move Jekyll in the process. He is as stubborn as a mule and is hard to move. So then on goes the top sheet which as I am flinging it over the bed he is chasing it across the bed and trying to tackle it. I just keep making the bed over him, as he is crawling around under the sheet, then Phantom gets in the act and chases him on top of the sheet. Okay guys here goes the blankets and you can just stay there. The blanket freaks out Phantom and he stops moving and Jekyll tries to get out from underneath the blankets. Now making the bed should take what no more than 5 or 6 minutes, try 20 at my house. Oh well I got it done and happy cats nice comfy bed to sleep on. I need a nap now. Tired Mom Happy Cats.

I want a Cat Nanny.

Everyone has dreams. Mine are simple. If I was ever fortunate enough to win the lottery I would buy a bigger house. Nothing so big I would have to hire a maid, but big enough that all of my furry babies would have a big playroom of there own, with built in litter box compartments, yes their own bathroom per say. It would have a special sink that they could learn to operate their self so they could always have fresh water, gravity feeders so the food is always available. The biggest thing would be a nanny. Now this person would have to be very special. He or she would have to be a major pet lover, and hand out lots of love and petting, and whatever else was required. I'm thinking changing litter boxes. Now don't get me wrong I love my furry babies but I am only one person and with five cats (yup five I double checked to make sure someone else didn't sneak in) I don't feel that everyone gets all the attention that he or she deserves. So a Cat Nanny could help out in that department. Okay I know that maybe this sounds silly but a Kitty Mom can have a dream and it should be a fun one. So off to the store to buy my ticket. Wish me luck I need a nanny. Happy Mom.

Oh me , oh my, why me!!!

I decided that I needed to crochet myself a scarf, it gets mighty cold here in the winter. So I proceed to get out my crochet hooks and yarn and found the color I wanted and so did Sophia. She likes purple. I may just have to make her a blanket. So I settle down with some Christmas show, that is about all that's on in the afternoon and plan what I want to do. I try to make a plan, but the cats all think that they have to help me. First Jezzebel gets herself tangled up in the yarn I plan to use, I get her out of the way then Jinx thinks she needs to sit in my lap and help me out. Not working for me. She then proceeds to jump down and takes everything with her. So on to plan B. I go and get out their treat food, divide it up and tell them to have at it. This will only take them a few minutes to eat but with full bellies they will go and lay down. Alright on with the crocheting. I get about fifteen rows done and Sophia finds the loose yarn I'm working with and takes off across the room with it, I have to go fetch the yarn and rewind the ball, she got about two or three yards of it across the room before I can stop her. I really what to make this, maybe I should just lock myself in my room, it won't be peaceful because they will sit outside the door meowing and scratching the door, but I get my scarf done. Off to do just that. Happy Mom.

The Christmas Tree and Sophia

Sophia is a strange little girl. She doesn't play much and as I said before she is sort of a loner. Today for the first time she was playing with the Christmas tree. Now she was sitting on the table next to it and reaching out to swat at the branches, and lights. I stopped her but when turned I around she was at it again. I had not put the ornaments on the tree yet so to distract her I thought I would but them on today. Ya right. After I put the ornaments on, plastic of course, she decided that those would be fun to hit off the tree. good job Sophia I don't mind putting them back on. Mind you I have some very beautiful glass ornaments, and other special ornaments, I decided with five cats in the house it would be foolish to put them on this year. Phantom and Jinx were chasing each other around the tree when I came home, and I just know one day it will come crashing down. Maybe I will be lucky. After Sophia was done playing with the tree, she got under the tree and curled up to nap. She will make that her spot even if there are presents under the tree I will find her tucked up under it in the gifts. What a beautiful present she is. Happy Sophia.

The Christmas Tree and the Cats

Yesterday was lets help mom put up the Christmas tree. Fa La La La. And may I not go crazy. So I bring in the tree box, fake, a real tree and cats no way. Open the box and take out the branches sort them out, Sophia I do not need help, get off of them. Okay they are sorted and now I can put the tree together. The box is a great source of amusement for all the cats, I find Jekyll in the box and he takes up the whole thing. Next the lights need to go on. Sophia no, I do not need help. Lights on, I sit back to make sure they look right and Jekyll is sitting by the tree box and staring at it, I notice the lid is closed and wonder how that happen, must of been a cat. Next thing I know Phantom pops out of the box and scares Jekyll half to death. Jekyll jumps straight up in the air about two feet, I'm not kidding. He then sort of jumps back in mid flight and lands near the tree. On his feet. Phantom popped back in the box, and stayed there. Man where is the video camera when you need one. Tree skirt on and here comes Sophia to mess it up and take a nap under the tree. This will be here favorite spot for Christmas. Happy Cat, Crazy Mom.

Cat Breeds

There are so many different types of cats that it is mind boggling. Here are a few of the types of breeds. Persian, Maine Coon, Burmese, Bengal, Ragdoll, Sphynx, Manx, Siberian, and of course just plain ole cats. Now in my house I don't have just plain ole cats. I have a Snowshoe Siamese, Black Fat Cat, Something Part Maybe Maine Coon, Little Sassy Sophia, and of course Her Highness. Only the Siamese is an actual breed that is part of some fancy cat society. But to me each and everyone of them is part of some society. Not sure which one, must be the Crazy Cat Lady Society. If you are interested in looking at different types of cats just type Cat Breeds in your search engine and hundreds of pages will come up. Take a look interesting. I sometimes think it would be fun to have some unusual type cat but I am not real fussy. My friend has a six toed cat who is orange striped and beautiful. The cat that is my profile picture is a Manx cat, and he was awesome. Manx cats have no tails, pretty cool. The Sphynx cats are hairless, and they are high maintiance , as they have to be bathed on a regular basis. This is because they tend to have oily skin. And I think they rather look like aliens. Poor babies. But whatever type of kitty you choose please make sure that you understand how to care for them, and contrary to what some people say, no you cannot let them fend for themselves. If you go away have someone house sit or make arrangements for them. Kitties like company. Happy Cat, Happy Mom.

Weird

Cats do weird things, I always think it is only my cats, but I know better. My friend has a six toed cat that is so freaking funny, every time I see him he is up to no good. She had a tiara on her dresser which he proceeded to get and carry through her house with it in his mouth. She would take it from him put it back and a few minutes later he would go get it and bring it back out and carry it. It had feathers on it so I'm thinking this was what he wanted. Well now I have Jekyll who as you can see in the picture made himself so comfy cozy on the bed, yes he crawled under the covers and turned around and laid his head on the pillow. You do know that I am only here at the beck and call of my feline babies. They have also learned how to make the reclining chair lay back, don't ask I don't have a clue how they do it, but yet I saw Jekyll with the chair reclining this afternoon. Phantom will wrap himself in the drapes and get stuck, and then cries because he can't figure how to unwrap himself. Really you got in there now get out. The other cats sometimes sit and watch the whole process and then jump him. Ahh the funny farm is probably much more quite than here, I need a nap. Happy crazy cats.

Jekyll and the new toy.

We like new toys. A friend of our mom got her this new toy. Its great, not sure how it works but there is something under a piece of cloth that goes round and round. Wow what a great toy. Really it doesn't take to much to entertain us. We all watched it for awhile I was right on top of it and wanted to catch whatever it was under there, I tryed to jump in the middle of it to stop the thing that was moving, but mom told me to get off of it as I might break it I am so big, but I did catch the toy a couple of times, it was great. When we all got tired of playing mom turned it off and Sophia decided it would make a good place to sleep. Happy cats. A note from mom. This toy is called Cat's Meow. It is interesting and is one of those TV promotions you can purchase, no I am not a spokesperson for them. I thought I would let anyone know in case they were interested. My kitties like this a lot and it keeps them occupied for a bit. A least when they are not trying to kill it. Happy Mom.

My Newspaper

On Sundays or Mondays I like to read the newspaper. So do the cats. First I sort out the stuff I don't want to read that's one pile, then I separate the ads, and the coupons, and the things I want to read, you know, who bombed what. Boy the news is sad. I save the comics section for last. Well let's see who did what,Sophia get off the paper. Okay now she gets down, oh then here came Jezzebel who wanted to park her butt on the paper, get down. Well the washer stopped, have to put clothes in the dryer, okay now I have a problem, Jekyll is on the paper he is not so easy to persuade to get off the paper. As he is so large when I pick him up he acts like I'm killing him. Not so easy to shove off the counter either, he doesn't budge. Geesh I don't even have kitty treats to tempt him with. Alright big guy move your butt, nope not happening, just glad he doesn't try to sit on my laptop. I never did finish the paper, Jekyll did he shredded a few sections for me. Oh and he found a coupon for cat treats. Happy Jekyll.
