Crabby Kitty

Today is Crabby Kitty day. Of all days a Monday no doubt. Now my son didn't have to work today and said everything was calm till I got home. Well of course this is the way things go. Mondays are my busy day, I have extra things to do at work and when I come home I am ready to relax. Plus the fact I didn't sleep well last night and was woke up at two in the morning because low and behold the food dishes were empty. Jezzebel woke me from a sound sleep crying which as with a child will wake you in an instant, all because she was hungry, this couldn't wait till three. So when I arrive home everyone expects to be fed their canned food, we cannot wait until I take off my boots or coat, we must be fed NOW! This taken care of I sit down with a nice cup of coffee, thanks for the new coffee maker mom it's super. Time to check my email and some other business, but no Jezzebel must sit on the keyboard, move over no not there here this chair, no not in my face and on it goes. She then gets down and jumps on Phantom who she hates and they go at it, then Jekyll decides he must investigate and this just makes matters worse. I remove all cats from my sight and sit back down, well the coffee is cold the cats are unhappy and I need a nap. You still want a cat? I have one or two you can have. Tired Mom, Unhappy Cats.

A note from Kitty Momma

Good Morning. The holidays are winding down, New Year's Eve is upon us. For anyone who can, think about taking a bag of food or a donation of money to your local shelter or rescue site for all the lonely Kitties and dogs. If you have babies of your own, please if they have not been spay or neuter look into services to do so. There are so many unwanted animals in this country. Breaks my heart. If you can and are able adopt a shelter or rescue site animal. They are so worth it. So you still want a cat, ask me how I manage be glad to give you some pointers. I am a crazy cat lady but they bring me a lot of fun and furry happiness. Happy mom.

What we didn't get anything for Christmas.

I got up this morning and thought I didn't get my own furry babies anything for Christmas. I gave presents to Miss Kitty and Oscar, but not to my kitties. Wonder how that happen. Maybe that is because every morning I wake up with mice laying all over the house, not fun to step on cause makes you wonder what it is in the semi dark. Kinda like stepping on Lego's when my kids where little. But then I thought, they do have warm beds and plenty of food and hey they have ME. I know some people think wow giving the cat a present, crazy cat people like me do those things. Oh yes we do. One year I made blankets for my girls, and the next year they got a fluffy cozy bed, which all three could cozy up in, but Jezzebel decided it was her's and no one else got to use it for about two months. But this year I just didn't do anything special for them. I of course know that they do not know the difference, but I did. Makes you wonder if at the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve when according to an old folk tale animals could talk, wonder what they were saying. Geesh Sophia there isn't anything under the tree for us, oh wait nope that's for our cousin Miss Kitty. Oscar how did he rate? It's okay Jinx, Kitty Momma loves us and keeps us warm and feeds us. We are very lucky Kitties except when she brought those two big boy cats home, what was she thinking? Happy Holidays From Her Highness (Jezzebel) Jinx, Sophia, Black Cat (Jekyll), and Mr. Needs all the attention. (Phantom)

Baby it's cold outside.

On Saturday December 21, our state was hit by an ice storm, and wow what a mess. I only lost my power for about five minutes, and felt very fortunate. Some people in our area are still without power. I am not sure how I would have coped with five cats and one dog. Of course they do have fur, but still the cold does effect them. Especially cats, if you have one you know that any blanket not tied down is fair game for a cozy cover up, you know that lump underneath it is not a bed made wrong it is a cat. Cat's internal temperature is much warmer than ours. They can if given a good place to stay can of course stay outside if that is the type of cat they are. You just need to make sure if they are barn cats there is plenty of wind cover and a small shelter with a blanket to get into. A dog house is even ideal that has straw around it and bedding inside. Make sure they have fresh water, as of course it freezes. Also please watch all your animals for signs of stress in the cold weather. Jake the dog loves to go outside and roll in the snow, and as he is a long haired dog, he gets lots of snow balls attached to his fur, you have to stop him at the door and check the pads of his feet for snow, also if you put salt down you need to make sure to wipe their feet with an washcloth rinsed in warm water. If they have any little cuts it will smart like heck and make them crabby. Also if you have any elderly neighbors with pets check in on them and see if the need any help walking the dog or such, they will appreciate it, and hey you might just get a warm feeling in your heart or a nice plate of chocolate chip cookies. Well I need to clean out the litter boxes and feed my furry babies, then on to other things like fluffing a cat or two. Happy Cats.

Happy Holidays from the Cat Clan and Momma

Everyone at our house, move Jinx I can type myself, you can't spell. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Okay down now. Go see Grandma. Anyway we would like to say may everyone have a blessed Holiday in whatever way you may celebrate the season. We are fortunate to have our health and though we are not wealthy, we are very wealthy in our family, friends and all the people who cross our paths. I am happy to have my furry babies (all rescued babies), who though at times can make me crazy are a great source of fun and amusement, as well as good companions. Yes sometimes they talk back, as all children do. So as this year winds down and moves on may everyone have big dreams, small dreams, wishful thinking and just some general good fun. May you all try and find good in a crazy world, love your family, make new friends and pay it forward. I understand that sometimes we feel like the world is trying to drag us down, but when that happens try to think of the good you do have. It may just be one small thing that makes you pause and smile, or make your heart skip a beat, the touch of a small paw on your cheek or a hug from someone you care about. Happy Cats.

Sophia and Mom

For some reason Sophia decided to grace me with her presence and curled up on a blanket that I had on the foot rest of my chair. I don't really get much time with Sophia as she is such a little loner. So I really enjoyed having her curled up with me. I gave her lots of petting and cats do like to be massaged, so she got one of those as well. Everyone one else was so jealous, but I wanted to give my baby girl all of the attention. Jekyll came around and thought he would join us, sorry dude was not happening. So he went back to the bedroom and proceeded to puke on the floor. Lovely. Now weather this was on purpose I do not know. Probably. I must say I had a good day and played with the cats and finished some projects that I needed to do. I never even got out of my pj's. Boy was I lazy. Mind you I sleep in sleep pants and tee shirts, so I was sort of dressed. As we had a terrible ice storm in our state, I wasn't going anywhere but here with my pretty babies. We did not lose our power thank goodness as many people did, otherwise I would of had five snarling cats and one dog in bed with me to keep warm. What a sight that would have been. Well must sign off have to clean litter boxes and put out fresh food, and water make the rounds and see that everyone is Happy. Happy Mom, hopefully Happy Cats.

Happy Cat Mom

Hi everyone just want to say I am a very happy cat mom. No I didn't get my Cat Nanny yet, but I did get my desktop computer back from the repair man, and I am dancing a jig I am so happy. Now I can proofread my blog better. Oh wait you have to be able to spell. Well everything has not be peachy on the kitty front, wow are they having Holiday stress or what, I'm fine thank you for asking, it's just the boys verus the girls. Last night Jekyll kept chasing Sophia and she would run then stop mid stride turn around and fight back Jekyll would sit down smack at her and then I would have to break it up. Then on to chasing Jinx well she is basically a lover and not a fighter. So she would just run where he couldn't get to her. He finally gave up and went to bed, thank godness, I was getting wore out squrting them with the water bottle. Well as I am still crocheting scarfs for family Sophia jumped in my yarn bag when I got up to get some water and in two seconds flat had made a mess of the yarn I was using. It was such a jumbled mess I had to tie off my work and for the next hour cussing under my breath I untangled the whole mess. Sophia sems very happy with herself over the whole thing. Then as I finished off my project Jezzebel decided she needed momma time up on my lap in the middle of the new project, boy I cannot catch a break. Well it was getting late and I just needed a furry love bug to pet and she was handy. So everyone settled down for the night and Jezzebel and I snoozed in the chair. Happy Jezzebel Happy Mom.

Being Ignored

Poor Jezzebel and Jinx. The norm around here was Jezzebel and Jinx shared my bed, one on the end and one curled up next to me. But recently the big cats Jekyll and Phantom have hogged the bed and I even want to sleep somewhere else. So Jezzebel has been sleeping curled up on the couch and Jinx under the Christmas tree. I feel like my poor little girls are being ignored. I think they do as well. So each day when I come home I give them alone time, just me and one of them at a time. Then of course one of the boys will see that they are not the center of attention and make Jezzebel crabby and she gets down from my lap hissing and spitting. Then Jekyll wants to chase Jinx around the house because he really wants to play, I am telling you those poor little girl cats see that big galoot coming at them and they freak out. So for now the shift in sleeping arrangements may or may not last long and I will have my bed back, and the girls will have there spots back as well. So as you can see having a large clan like I do the dynamics change almost daily, and somethings never change. I am always amazed by how they either interact or choose not to. The boy cats have been here for almost six months and Jezzebel still hates them, Sophia ignores them, Jinx tolerates them, and Jake the dog could care less. I for one would still like to find good homes for the boys even though I am not sure I really could let them go. So you see I really could use a cat nanny. Crabby Cats, Tired Mom.

Let me SLEEP!

I go to bed early and get up early. But when I am woke up by a 24 pound cat who thinks he just cannot not survive another two hours till I do get up for me to fill the food dishes, I just want to scream. Last week on two occasions I was woke up an hour before the alarm. Now that really wasn't to bad, but really. This morning I tried to put my head under the covers and turn my back on him, does not work. He tramped over the top of me and pawed the blankets and uncovered my head then he sticks his face in mine and meows. He is just so pitiful. I try to ignore him and roll over the other way, and again he crawls over me and starts pawing me. I finally just give up and get out of bed. I locate the food and fill the dish, no one else seems to be concerned they are all curled up so cute and peacefully sleeping. Wish I was. I get Jekyll settled down and he goes about the business of eating, okay I can get a little more sleep. Happy Jekyll. Tired Mom.

Blessed Be.

Most days I just want to have a good blog to share with you from the crazy cat bunch. Not today. I would just like to say that even though some days I feel like the world is dragging me down and I am tired from working long hours, I am Blessed. I have a wonderful mom who puts up with my nonsense, and supports me in most of my endeavors like this blog. A brother I don't understand most of the time but love him anyway. I have children whom I love dearly even if at times they make me crazier than the cats do, and my funny furry babies. I also am surrounded by good friends young and old. Sometimes I wish I could change my life and things be a little easier but over all it's been a good life. And what are a few bumps in the road. So I just want to say to all of you who have stopped by to see what we are up to most days, Thank you, and may you have few bumps in your road, good friends, family and furry babies to share your life with. Blessed Be.

Jekyll Move. Please!

Jekyll can never resist getting in the way of making the bed. But just trying to change the sheets and remake the bed is near impossible with a 24 pound cat trying to chase the sheet around the bed. I start by putting pillow cases on then the bottom sheet which he tries to get under as I am putting it on. Now my bed is against a wall so I have to crawl over to get the corners on and move Jekyll in the process. He is as stubborn as a mule and is hard to move. So then on goes the top sheet which as I am flinging it over the bed he is chasing it across the bed and trying to tackle it. I just keep making the bed over him, as he is crawling around under the sheet, then Phantom gets in the act and chases him on top of the sheet. Okay guys here goes the blankets and you can just stay there. The blanket freaks out Phantom and he stops moving and Jekyll tries to get out from underneath the blankets. Now making the bed should take what no more than 5 or 6 minutes, try 20 at my house. Oh well I got it done and happy cats nice comfy bed to sleep on. I need a nap now. Tired Mom Happy Cats.

I want a Cat Nanny.

Everyone has dreams. Mine are simple. If I was ever fortunate enough to win the lottery I would buy a bigger house. Nothing so big I would have to hire a maid, but big enough that all of my furry babies would have a big playroom of there own, with built in litter box compartments, yes their own bathroom per say. It would have a special sink that they could learn to operate their self so they could always have fresh water, gravity feeders so the food is always available. The biggest thing would be a nanny. Now this person would have to be very special. He or she would have to be a major pet lover, and hand out lots of love and petting, and whatever else was required. I'm thinking changing litter boxes. Now don't get me wrong I love my furry babies but I am only one person and with five cats (yup five I double checked to make sure someone else didn't sneak in) I don't feel that everyone gets all the attention that he or she deserves. So a Cat Nanny could help out in that department. Okay I know that maybe this sounds silly but a Kitty Mom can have a dream and it should be a fun one. So off to the store to buy my ticket. Wish me luck I need a nanny. Happy Mom.

Oh me , oh my, why me!!!

I decided that I needed to crochet myself a scarf, it gets mighty cold here in the winter. So I proceed to get out my crochet hooks and yarn and found the color I wanted and so did Sophia. She likes purple. I may just have to make her a blanket. So I settle down with some Christmas show, that is about all that's on in the afternoon and plan what I want to do. I try to make a plan, but the cats all think that they have to help me. First Jezzebel gets herself tangled up in the yarn I plan to use, I get her out of the way then Jinx thinks she needs to sit in my lap and help me out. Not working for me. She then proceeds to jump down and takes everything with her. So on to plan B. I go and get out their treat food, divide it up and tell them to have at it. This will only take them a few minutes to eat but with full bellies they will go and lay down. Alright on with the crocheting. I get about fifteen rows done and Sophia finds the loose yarn I'm working with and takes off across the room with it, I have to go fetch the yarn and rewind the ball, she got about two or three yards of it across the room before I can stop her. I really what to make this, maybe I should just lock myself in my room, it won't be peaceful because they will sit outside the door meowing and scratching the door, but I get my scarf done. Off to do just that. Happy Mom.

The Christmas Tree and Sophia

Sophia is a strange little girl. She doesn't play much and as I said before she is sort of a loner. Today for the first time she was playing with the Christmas tree. Now she was sitting on the table next to it and reaching out to swat at the branches, and lights. I stopped her but when turned I around she was at it again. I had not put the ornaments on the tree yet so to distract her I thought I would but them on today. Ya right. After I put the ornaments on, plastic of course, she decided that those would be fun to hit off the tree. good job Sophia I don't mind putting them back on. Mind you I have some very beautiful glass ornaments, and other special ornaments, I decided with five cats in the house it would be foolish to put them on this year. Phantom and Jinx were chasing each other around the tree when I came home, and I just know one day it will come crashing down. Maybe I will be lucky. After Sophia was done playing with the tree, she got under the tree and curled up to nap. She will make that her spot even if there are presents under the tree I will find her tucked up under it in the gifts. What a beautiful present she is. Happy Sophia.

The Christmas Tree and the Cats

Yesterday was lets help mom put up the Christmas tree. Fa La La La. And may I not go crazy. So I bring in the tree box, fake, a real tree and cats no way. Open the box and take out the branches sort them out, Sophia I do not need help, get off of them. Okay they are sorted and now I can put the tree together. The box is a great source of amusement for all the cats, I find Jekyll in the box and he takes up the whole thing. Next the lights need to go on. Sophia no, I do not need help. Lights on, I sit back to make sure they look right and Jekyll is sitting by the tree box and staring at it, I notice the lid is closed and wonder how that happen, must of been a cat. Next thing I know Phantom pops out of the box and scares Jekyll half to death. Jekyll jumps straight up in the air about two feet, I'm not kidding. He then sort of jumps back in mid flight and lands near the tree. On his feet. Phantom popped back in the box, and stayed there. Man where is the video camera when you need one. Tree skirt on and here comes Sophia to mess it up and take a nap under the tree. This will be here favorite spot for Christmas. Happy Cat, Crazy Mom.

Cat Breeds

There are so many different types of cats that it is mind boggling. Here are a few of the types of breeds. Persian, Maine Coon, Burmese, Bengal, Ragdoll, Sphynx, Manx, Siberian, and of course just plain ole cats. Now in my house I don't have just plain ole cats. I have a Snowshoe Siamese, Black Fat Cat, Something Part Maybe Maine Coon, Little Sassy Sophia, and of course Her Highness. Only the Siamese is an actual breed that is part of some fancy cat society. But to me each and everyone of them is part of some society. Not sure which one, must be the Crazy Cat Lady Society. If you are interested in looking at different types of cats just type Cat Breeds in your search engine and hundreds of pages will come up. Take a look interesting. I sometimes think it would be fun to have some unusual type cat but I am not real fussy. My friend has a six toed cat who is orange striped and beautiful. The cat that is my profile picture is a Manx cat, and he was awesome. Manx cats have no tails, pretty cool. The Sphynx cats are hairless, and they are high maintiance , as they have to be bathed on a regular basis. This is because they tend to have oily skin. And I think they rather look like aliens. Poor babies. But whatever type of kitty you choose please make sure that you understand how to care for them, and contrary to what some people say, no you cannot let them fend for themselves. If you go away have someone house sit or make arrangements for them. Kitties like company. Happy Cat, Happy Mom.

Weird

Cats do weird things, I always think it is only my cats, but I know better. My friend has a six toed cat that is so freaking funny, every time I see him he is up to no good. She had a tiara on her dresser which he proceeded to get and carry through her house with it in his mouth. She would take it from him put it back and a few minutes later he would go get it and bring it back out and carry it. It had feathers on it so I'm thinking this was what he wanted. Well now I have Jekyll who as you can see in the picture made himself so comfy cozy on the bed, yes he crawled under the covers and turned around and laid his head on the pillow. You do know that I am only here at the beck and call of my feline babies. They have also learned how to make the reclining chair lay back, don't ask I don't have a clue how they do it, but yet I saw Jekyll with the chair reclining this afternoon. Phantom will wrap himself in the drapes and get stuck, and then cries because he can't figure how to unwrap himself. Really you got in there now get out. The other cats sometimes sit and watch the whole process and then jump him. Ahh the funny farm is probably much more quite than here, I need a nap. Happy crazy cats.

Jekyll and the new toy.

We like new toys. A friend of our mom got her this new toy. Its great, not sure how it works but there is something under a piece of cloth that goes round and round. Wow what a great toy. Really it doesn't take to much to entertain us. We all watched it for awhile I was right on top of it and wanted to catch whatever it was under there, I tryed to jump in the middle of it to stop the thing that was moving, but mom told me to get off of it as I might break it I am so big, but I did catch the toy a couple of times, it was great. When we all got tired of playing mom turned it off and Sophia decided it would make a good place to sleep. Happy cats. A note from mom. This toy is called Cat's Meow. It is interesting and is one of those TV promotions you can purchase, no I am not a spokesperson for them. I thought I would let anyone know in case they were interested. My kitties like this a lot and it keeps them occupied for a bit. A least when they are not trying to kill it. Happy Mom.

My Newspaper

On Sundays or Mondays I like to read the newspaper. So do the cats. First I sort out the stuff I don't want to read that's one pile, then I separate the ads, and the coupons, and the things I want to read, you know, who bombed what. Boy the news is sad. I save the comics section for last. Well let's see who did what,Sophia get off the paper. Okay now she gets down, oh then here came Jezzebel who wanted to park her butt on the paper, get down. Well the washer stopped, have to put clothes in the dryer, okay now I have a problem, Jekyll is on the paper he is not so easy to persuade to get off the paper. As he is so large when I pick him up he acts like I'm killing him. Not so easy to shove off the counter either, he doesn't budge. Geesh I don't even have kitty treats to tempt him with. Alright big guy move your butt, nope not happening, just glad he doesn't try to sit on my laptop. I never did finish the paper, Jekyll did he shredded a few sections for me. Oh and he found a coupon for cat treats. Happy Jekyll.

Happy Thanksgiving from Phantom

All of us in cat haven would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. There are so many things that we here in our house are thankful for. Our mom who rescued us from shelters or other places. We have a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, and fat furry mice to play with. We are petted ,cuddled and loved beyond measure, even though we drive our mom crazy some days. but she seems to take it in stride. So this Thanksgiving we are very happy to have a home. Sorry this is late but I had to figure out how to use the computer, and wait for mom to go shopping, wonder what we are getting for Christmas. Doesn't matter we are happy to be here. Happy Phantom.

Sister Love

Sometimes the stars and the moons align, and the cats are calm and loving towards each other. Okay I lie. But just when it's been hectic and everyone calms down I see a special moment. Jinx and Jezzebel curled up and grooming each other. For cats this is a sign of affection or maybe just tasting the other one to see if that spot is yummy enough to bit later. Yesterday I had the a surprise and saw two of my battle cats sleeping peacefully on the couch together. I can only guess that Jekyll had creep very carefully to Jezzebel and laid down by her, his nose touching her. But truthfully cats do not always need companionship. This is very clear in my house. But all in all I am happy to report that things have been calm so far. Happy Mom

Cats and the internet guy.

Today we had new internet service installed. Got a great price. Yay. Only one problem the poor guy is allergic to cats. It is always the first question I ask of service techs. Usually I get lucky and they are not, but I have to say the last two were. So of course I cannot lock all five cats in one room. I had the dog in another room, he only barks, but the cats different story. Well Jezzebel, Jinx and Sophia were are very good girls and stayed away from the service tech. But of course the boys Phantom and Jekyll had to be in the thick of things and be right at the man's side. I kept picking them up and moving them, tried to put them in the one room, but they can get the door open, I need to fix that handle. But the tech was very good about it and said as long as he didn't get cat hair all over him he was fine. Now you can guess I vacuumed before he got here and cleaned the surface the new equipment was going on so I figure I was good. Okay so when he put his tablet on the table to check something outside, one of the cats rubbed their face all over it, I hurried up and cleaned it off before he came in and cleaned the table all over again. Cats. You know I think they had this all planned, before he got here they just knew what they could do to make me crazy. I'm exshusted from chasing them away from the tech. Time for a nap. Happy crazy cats.

The Plot Thickens, or Who Did It

On any given day I wonder what my cats are thinking. Surely it is all good thoughts. Right. Take for instant the cat on the nightstand looking at me when I am sleeping. What's that all about. Do I look like dinner, or are you just concerned I might not wake up to feed you on time. Jezzebel will get this slit eyed look as if to say I am the ruler you will bow down to me, or you will pay dearly. How will I pay, hmmm, probably fresh salmon or tuna. But seriously do you not wonder? With dogs it's easy they just want to go outside and pee on a tree or run around like the nut jobs they are. Cats a whole different story, they are deep thinkers, just look at one sometime, and don't let that cute little cat playing with a fluffy toy fool you, because you just know they are plotting to do something evil. Like the cat who throws up their cat food in the middle of the night, who did it. Nobody knows and they sure aren't going to rat each other out, they will just sit back and grin. Happy Plotting Cats.

It's a trap I tell you, it's a trap.

On any given day someone is trapped by another cat or so they think. Lets see under the table, in the bathroom, the backroom, the litter box, on the bed. It can happen anywhere. The most favorite spot to ambush another cat is in the litter box, where of course who wants their business interrupted. How about the box. That is always a good spot to attack another cat, they don't even expect it. Wham another cat jumps in or on the box and the cat inside the box gets the heck scared out of them. Then the chase begins till one or the other gets bored. The famous trapped in the bathroom is my favorite. One cat goes in tries to come back out and another cat just sits in the doorway so other cat cannot pass without paws and claws flaying around trying to hit each other. Or they have a staring contest which no one wins. Finally this passes too as someone always gets bored and moves on to the next cat to irritate. Of course the sleeping cat is a fun thing to attack or scare. Goodness there are plenty of places to sleep but someone always covets that one spot. Well as I sign off, it is all quite on the cat frontier. Happy Mom.

Cat Tunes

My day starts. Jekyll get off the keyboard. Don't eat the plastic, get off the counter. Geesh this is how it goes, every time I start a project I have a cat or two join me. Today it is Jekyll, he is needy. This morning before the alarm went off I felt a thump on the bed, it was Jekyll, and he was headed towards Jezzebel who hates all things cat. At least all the boy cats. So up I get grab him and put him on the floor. Off to the bathroom I go and here comes Phantom. Did I tell you he almost landed in the toilet last week? Yup I opened the lid and up on the rim he goes almost head first in the toilet. He is lucky I'm fast. So up on the counter he goes, it is not easy putting on mascara with a cat bumping your arm. You know I am sure some days it is not worth looking gorgeous when you have a cat or two helping or is that hindering. So down he goes only to have Jezzebel want me to turn on the faucet so she can get a drink. Lord give me the patience to go on. Some days it's great to go to work. Still want a cat? Happy Cat.

I am Phantom

I am Phantom. I came to live with this family in July, I love it here, except for that cat Jezzebel. I am for the most part a very happy boy. I like to play and chase Jinx around the house, she is fun, Sophia ignores me and Jekyll and I play sometimes but he likes to sleep a lot. I entertain myself quite well. All I need are furry mice and hey give me that ring off the milk jug, no don't throw it away, hey I want that, ahh yes it's mine. You can do really cool things with the milk jug ring. I like to throw it up in the air, carry it around in my mouth and there is a rug in the bathroom that I can hide it under. You have to understand Jezzebel likes them too, but hey she's mean to me. It's mine all mine. I have a favorite spot to sleep, and a blanket that is all my own, I said my own, get off of it Jekyll. Sometimes I jump up on the bathroom counter just to keep mom company while she gets ready for work. I really liked to be petted and snuggled. Life is good. Happy Phantom.

I don't do storms.

Hi I'm Jekyll and I don't do storms, I don't do windows, basically I don't do anything. I am the big cat of the house, for being a big cat I am very afraid of loud noises, sudden movements make me jump two feet off the floor, and thunder and lighting terrify me. The state we live in has very crazy weather, kinda like some of those Syfy movies mom likes to watch about killer storms, yup living the dream here. Yesterday was so mild and mom opened the windows to air the house a bit and I sat in the window sill just taking in the fresh air. It was wonderful, then the wind picked up the sky got really dark and it started to rain, not just rain, sheets of water hitting the house then it happen thunder so loud I about wet myself. I ran under mom's bed where it's safe, or so I hoped. It was crazy outside. Jezzebel hid also, not sure where she wasn't sharing my spot though. Mom tried to comfort me, sorry lady not leaving from under the bed. The storm finally stopped, wow I made it. Now maybe I get a nap. Happy Jekyll.

Serious Matter, Fleas as told by Sophia.

I hate fleas. They are an annoyance and bothersome especially to me. I am very allergic to them. I also cannot tolerate certain flea medications. My poor mom goes into a tizzy when the dog brings them in the house. We never had fleas till he showed up. Now don't get me wrong I really like Jake, but he is a big pain in my mom's neck. He is allowed to go outside so he brings them in. I swear I must be very sweet as the fleas attack me first and I itch and itch so much it makes my mom cry. So off she goes to the pet store and buys the flea stuff for us, and I know it makes her crazy because that stuff is so expensive, someone should make the dog pay. He really should get a job, don't know what he can do but I think it's a great idea. But anyway my mom takes good care of me and makes sure I get the good flea medicine so I don't get sick. It's very important to take good care of us and we really are sorry when we get sick or don't like the canned food she buys, but mostly she loves us and takes it all in stride. Thanks mom, we love you. Happy Mom.

Sleeping babies.

What you see is not always what you get. Kinda like be careful of what you wish for. On a good day these two cats are a snarling mess. One cat cannot ever walk by the other one without someone hissing or striking out to nail the other one, it just doesn't ever happen. So when I saw the two dominate cats sleeping on the back of the couch so close I almost didn't believe it. They slept so peacefully until I went to bed then it was cat fight to see who could get the prime spot next to mom. Well for someone who gets up early I have no time for this. Guess how I solved it, didn't have to. Jekyll came up on the bed and they both left, hey who argues with a 24 pound cat anyway. So he just curled up in a nice cozy spot according to him anyway, my pillow and went to sleep. I give up sometimes. Yes they own me. So you still want a cat? Happy Cat.

Cooking with Cats

Today I came home full of energy and I didn't have to let the dog out. Ya, that's what I'm talking about. So I decided to try a new recipe. Well that is always an invitation for the dog to get underfoot, a cat to jump on the counter and one to get into the pot cupboard, oh yes and Sophia decided she wanted to jump in the food cupboard, and as I did not see her do it, well I had a cat scare the heck out of me when I when to shut the cupboard door. I think I lost about two years off my life, gosh sure can't afford that. So I got her out of cupboard, not happy (Sophia), knocked another cat off the counter and had to disinfect the counter so I could continue what I was doing. Oh good grief get out of the refrigerator, (Sophia). I just walked over to the counter with one thing turned around and yes she was in there. I had to get a pan out of the pot cupboard and lo and behold Jezzebel was in there, get out now. I wash my pans before I use them again, never ending cycle. Oh geesh Phantom I do not have time to pet you, later. His Highness is now miffed, and if I am lucky he will not hack a hairball on my bed. And on it goes, the recipe was a smash hit, and now I have time to relax, on second thought Jinx I do not need your butt in my face. Happy Cat.

Sometimes I think....

Sometimes I think I have too many cats, well really I do. I spend as much time with each cat as possible and it can be hard. I work long hours I get up very early and come home tired, but I have responsibilities. Cats more cats and so on. Today everyone was waiting for me to arrive home, and I knew that they were waiting for food and the litter box to be cleaned. I always feel like I have so many people and kitty people to take care of before I can relax. Well today I got all of the things I needed to do and took a nap. Now that nap included a couple of cats curled up next to me. Boy are they bed hogs, and lets see they like to sleep on top of me, or on my pillow, the one I want to use. I always have a cat close by, doing the dishes, cat there, sitting in my chair, cat there, doing laundry cat there, getting ready for work cat there. Everything I do I have a cat there. Okay that's why I go to work, oh ya I work so I can feed all these cats and keep them in the lap of luxury. Man do they have it good.

Veterans Day

Today is Veterans Day. So my Kitty's and I salute the men and women past and present who have fought to keep our country safe. My dad was a veteran and fought in WWII, my grandfather was in an elite group of men in WWI called the Polar Bears. They were stationed in Russia. There was a documentary done about them. I am proud to be their daughter and granddaughter. Both men have passed on but their memories will forever be in my heart for the generous and unselfish service they did for their country. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who serve or served so gallantly. Oh and I have a very good friend who also served our country. She knows who she is, Thank you. Happy Kitties.

Behind the cat, or the butt of it all.

I on occasion will wake up to a cat behind somewhere in the vicinity of my face, you know not such a pleasant thought. Cats seriously have no manners, they think nothing of being in your face and you know where their faces have been. Yes licking their butts. This I am sure that they take great pleasure in, that is being in your face or licking their butts. One of my cats takes great pains to rub my nose with her's or touch my face with a paw, well we all know where those paws have been, in the litter box. All I can say is thank you for soap and hot water. I wash my hands and face a lot. Now of course we don't know what those little monsters are doing when we are sleeping, but I am sure it has to do with plotting against their human parents. I am sure of it. Sometimes I wake up with a cat on the night stand just looking at me and I have to wonder how long they were sitting there and why. I would like to thing they are guardian angels watching over me as I sleep. Okay who am I kidding, they are just thinking of ways to get more food, the litter box cleaned, fresh water or maybe just find it interesting that I'm possibly ready to get up early to pet them. Or they want to really rub their butt in my face while I'm sleeping and just maybe I won't know it has happen. You still want that cat? Happy Cat

The Great Escape

As normal I have a routine I follow when I get home from work. Jake the dog gets to go out as he has waited all day. Wish he would use the litter box. Out the door he heads and to the back yard, then on to the neighbors to pee on her rock garden then to the other neighbor's house to go on her bush. All this time I am following him around to make sure he doesn't run to far, on this day he stayed in our yard, after he is done I tell him house and he races to the porch. Well he is always faster than I am so I hear a thud and as I come around the house see that he has hit the screen door which is wide open. I hadn't shut the main door, so of course all I can think is Her Highness has headed out that door. She loves going outside. Nope it was the big cats Phantom and Jekyll. Jekyll was headed down the driveway and Phantom was frozen in fear. So I scooped him up and then grabbed Jekyll. I then proceed to take a head count, Jinx was running around the house her tail two sizes bigger than normal, Sophia was sitting on a case of water, well wouldn't you know Her Highness was in the bedroom on the dresser. I swear she looked like she had something to do with this. It was like, I didn't tell them to go outside but really hoping that they would forever be gone. She seemed really pleased with herself. So the moral of the story is make sure the screen door is closed tightly or Jezzebel gets her wish, the big cats finally get lost. Sorry Jezzebel. Not Happy Cat. Still want a cat?

Sophia's Pet

Jake is Sophia's pet. Stranger things have happened. Jake is my son's dog, but Sophia thinks that he belongs to her. He is a Gordon Setter and is much bigger than Sophia is, but she loves him never the less. It is a strange relationship. But then again these things happen in all walks of life. She will follow him around the house and as cats do rub up against him. Now being a dog he has actually taken to all the cats pretty well after all it is their house and he is a guest. Sophia will sleep next to Jake on the floor or curl up on the couch with him. When he has had enough of her he just moves, and sometimes she follows sometimes not. Cats and dogs can get along in the same house sometimes not so well but it is possible unless you have a little six pound cat following you all over, I imagine you may get sick of it. I actually think Sophia likes the dog better than everyone else who lives here in the house. But don't get near his dog biscuit, those are fighting words, right Jake? Happy Dog.

Feeding Time

Feeding time at our house is either a big production or who cares. I give the cat clan canned food to supplement the dry food that they have free reign over, yes I leave three bowls out for them every day. Hey so the bag says give x amount per day to cats of a certain weight a certain amount. Now if you have five cats it is very hard to say okay Jezzebel you get a quarter cup, Jinx here is your quarter cup and so on, unrealistic at our house. But the can food is another story everyone gets one heaping tablespoon, and those that don't want their's someone else helps them self. Some days Jekyll gets extra, but usually its Sophia who gets to lick the bowls clean. Now if I don't watch them, the dog comes along and swipes the bowls and carries them to his room. He has yet to turn into a cat, but it will happen. Tomorrow we will tell you about Jake and his girlfriend Sophia. Happy Cat.

All is calm on the cat frontier.

Sometimes I just get really lucky and no one in the family needs my attention. All of the cats are sleeping peacefully, the dog is in his room. All is well. So this means I have caught up on my email, did some important things I needed to attend to and now I can sit back and watch three hours of The Big Bang Theory. Granted someone will require attention I am sure within the next few minutes. Lets see Her Highness will want me to turn on the water in the bathroom sink, she will only drink fresh water. I'm not kidding. Jekyll will decide the litter box is not clean enough,(I scoop that thing twice a day)and stand outside of it with his paw scratching at the litter till I go out there and scoop it again. Mr Attention (Phantom) will want to jump in my lap as he needs so much attention, god forbid I ignore him as he will look at me with his beautiful baby blues and paw at me till I let him on my lap. Jinx and Sophia will think of something to get my attention, probably run through the house knocking things over. But for just this moment all is peaceful. Happy Mom.

Sitting Cats

Cat Antics

Sometimes cats do the utmost goofy things. Jezzebel sits up against the pillow like a little human as does Jekyll. It really looks kinda weird. Jinx thinks that it is fun to crawl into my shirt, really she does it if I have a big old tee shirt on and I am laying on the bed reading or watching television. She crawls all the way up and out the neck of my shirt. Okay so you are thinking really, ya really. Or Sophia just waiting for me to get up from my chair so she can get in it and go to sleep. No I don't move her I just let sleeping cats lay. Besides if they are sleeping I know what they are not up to. Phantom thinks it is always a good idea to be in the middle of whatever I am doing, like typing, so lets sit on the key board. Also lets see who can run through the house faster, jumping over the dog giving him I'm sure a puppy heart attack. He tolerates the cats, after all he is a quest here. Cats do not care if they look silly, and I think that the joy a silly cat brings to my life is a good thing. so if you have a silly cat you have Happy Cat. Enjoy.

Sophia and the head

Happy Halloween all. Sophia was kind enough to pose with the head. All the little and not so little Trick or Treater's have come and gone. It has been raining today so it wasn't as busy as usual. I have to stand outside so the kitties don't escape. This was on Jezzebel's mind the whole time I was outside. She sat on the entry table plotting her escape. Jekyll slept through the whole thing, he could of cared less. Phantom sat under the entry table making Jezzebel crazy, it was all in her mind as he is pretty mild mannered, Jinx sat in the window minding her own business, and Sophia was running around the house, I think there was a fly she was chasing or maybe it was a ghost only she could see. Have a spooky evening. Happy Cat.

Happy All Hallows Eve

Halloween is upon us. This is a fun time for some, myself included. My cats not so much. As with all holidays we must keep our animals safe from the dangers that can befall them on holidays. If you have outdoor animals and you are in an area that has trick or treating, please secure your pets from strangers. We all want to believe that nothing can happen, but you never know. Extra cars in the area, extra people in the area can make your pets very uncomfortable. So I dress up like a witch and head outside to enjoy the little ones and pass out treats. Happy Halloween from The Kitty Clan and their Momma.

Hello From Miss Kitty

Sorry if you missed the hijinks of the cat clan, but their Mom needed a break. So Miss Kitty is going to stop by and say hello. I am the rescued cat of a very dear lady. Actually I am the very pampered princess who is very well loved and have a nice home with someone very special. My mom takes very good care of me and I love to entertain her with all my antics. I can race around the house and leap to high places. I have some very favorite toys that I like to attack and make my mom laugh, she buys the best toys. I like to sleep in the sunny spots around the house and have some very nice places to perch. The window seats have great views of the world outside. I get to watch birds and squirrels run around. I did hear that there are cats outside, I just hope they have somewhere warm to go at night. Oh to be an outdoor cat, the horror of it all. I am so glad I had the pleasure of stopping in to say hello, well I need to get home after all I need to survey my domain and see if my mom got me any new treats. Love you mom. Happy Cat night.

Jinx weighs in

Jinx decided today that it was her turn to be heard. I am the middle kitty sister. I am fluffy and multi colored, also I am a small cat. I enjoy snuggling with my human mom, and follow her around when I want attention, I like attention. You might also call me a diva, It enjoy being brushed and groomed. Never know when company may come over, need to look my best. Running through the house like I'm crazy is my favorite thing to do, also surprise attacks on the other cats is a speciality of mine, they never know what hit them, as I am as fast as the wind. Those surprise attacks are great, no one ever comes after me because now you see me now you don't. Hiding from mom is something I do very well. She will hunt for me and never find me unless I want to be found. Oh yay I think Mom likes me best. Happy Cat.

Mom it wasn't me!

Mom it wasn't me, I was in this chair the whole time. I never moved, I wasn't the one who knocked over the dogs water dish, I was in this chair the whole time. Don't I look cute, if not really comfortable. Now why do you think I knocked the books off that shelf, I wasn't up on the bookshelf, that was Jinx. Okay maybe I did knock over the witch in the rocking chair, but really that is an annoying decoration, every time I walk by that thing it cackles and laughs hideously. No I did not attack Sophia when she walked by me, I was in the chair the whole time. Never moved a paw, didn't blink didn't move, wasn't me Mom. So you still want a cat? Cats are like children, they get into things they shouldn't and pull pranks on people and other cats. That is a cats world. Have a Happy Cat Day.

Sophia's World

Sophia is a very different cat. She is quite and calm. Her life began in a barn wall, where she was found with her brother, their mom was gone. So begin Sophia's journey. I adopted her at eight weeks old, she was so small and fit in the palm of my hand, she needed a lot of attention and was a little cuddle muffin in the beginning. My other two cats where not so happy with the new addition to the family. this came to pass after about a month. Jinx was the first to come around. Sophia seems to like to be alone a lot and doesn't either understand how to interact with the other cats or chooses not to. Sometimes she makes me feel like a bad kitty mom. Sophia is also very allergic to fleas, we found this out after she developed bald spots where the poor baby chewed her fur off.(Fleas taken care of) All in all though she is beautiful and a bit mysterious at times. She can look right through you, as if something other worldly is behind you. A bit spooky. I would not trade her for anything, as I feel like she brings a certain sense of calm to a crazy house full of cats. Happy Cat.

Sophia says Hello

Sophia felt ignored. More on her tomarrow.

Ode to Moe

Moe was a companion to my good friend. He was the sweetest cat you would ever meet. He was built like a kitty bulldog. He also a beautiful boy. He had several nick names. Daddy's boy, Moe piggy's, Moe belly's and baby boy. Moe piggy came about because he snorted like a little pig, he was also a very heavy cat, not fat but built solid. He would jump up on the coffee table to get on your lap, this involved me moving my coffee cup and anything else in his way and then he would jump on my lap and lay on my leg with his chin on my knee an legs hanging over the side of mine, rather weird. But hey, he was happy. Jekyll I don't need help typing this, thank you. Moe was very smart he knew just how far he could go outside with out being out of bounds, but would on occasion test the waters. My life is richer for knowing him, and my friend misses him still. All good Cats go to Heaven. Miss you Moe. As you know he is my profile picture, as I choose to honor a beautiful loving cat. Happy Kitty Day to all.

Hey mom. As told by Jezzebel

Hey there I'm on my back. Look mom. Look at me. I'm so cute. Just trying to get your attention. Come on you have seen that Big Bang Theory at least six times. Look at me, hey I'm down here on the floor, I'm looking at you. Come on I'm waiting. Rub my belly, yoo hoo you on the sofa. Pay attention. Okay I'm going to play with this mousee. Look I caught it mid air. Whee I'm exhausted. Think I'll take a nap.

Cat Fight, cat fight.

Today was just another day at my house, except when I was busy downloading a program a rather viscous cat fight broke out. The two large male cats had cornered my Jezzebel in the back room. she had been using the litter box and all I know is I heard a cat crying and meowing then hissing. By the time I got to the back room Jekyll was walking out of the back room with fur in his mouth and Phantom was not letting Jezzebel out of the backroom. So I grabbed her up and started to check for injury. After all there was fur on the floor and Jekyll was walking around with fur in his mouth. Well it wasn't Jezzebel's. So I started to check out Jinx as it looked like her fur, nope not hers. Well what the heck, not Sophia's she headed for the hills during the ruckus. So I then checked the Siamese Phantom. Yup it was his he had a few more tuff's hanging off him, no blood. So who got him? Don't know, guess it will remain a mystery. So you still want a cat? I have a spare or two. Happy cat to all.

Nurturing Cats

Cats are natural born comfort givers. I was talking to a dear friend today, who had a doctor appointment that required a procedure. After the procedure she goes home and naps. Her little princess jumped up on the couch and stayed close by as she napped. She then asked me if I thought that cats know something is amiss. I believe that yes they do. When I was close to having my second child we had a cat who would barely leave my side on the day I was due. Cats are a funny sort though, some cats only want attention on their terms, and others just cannot be away from you to long. My oldest cat Jezzebel will completely ignore me if I go away to visit relatives for the night. When I return I get the cold shoulder. The rest of them could care less as long as someone feeds and water them. So cats are a mystery to me sometimes. I have five very diverse cats all with very funny personalities. Sometimes annoying, most times endearing, and crazy. Enjoy your furry babies.

Halloween Cat

My Miss Jezzebel decided to pose for a great Halloween picture for me today. Her Highness on more than one occasion has posed for great pictures. I really think she does this on purpose, you know like the children who likes to ham it up for the camera. I have some really great shots of her on my phone, wow how nice phones are so smart. Jezzebel is the perfect Halloween cat, as she has the arched back, hissing and spitting down. She can go from beautiful loving snuggle cat to witch cat in 60 seconds flat. This I will chalk up to the fact that she is really crabby most of the time and does not like to share with anyone. Have a great night.

Crazy Cats

I decided on my way home from work that cats are crazy. They are just plain nuts. How do cats justify having the use of three litter boxes but everyone wants to use the same one now. When I only had three cats and two litter boxes it was simple, one for poo and one for pee. They were very civilized. When the two boy cats came to live with us I added another litter box, a very large litter box I might add. The male cats are very big boys. Well now everyone uses the big litter box, and pretty much ignore the other two unless the big one is occupied. Go figure. But I have one very finicky cat who hates a dirty litter box, and will sometimes use the rubber mat in front of it. Yes cats are crazy, why not just use another litter box, heck no he is just to stubborn, and now he is on the counter trying to help me type. He is bigger than my laptop, and could crush it in one blow. Down you go, and please could you clean your own litter box today, I'm tired. Still want that cat?

Pet Parties

Well now I was reading a current magazine for women, one I enjoy, and to my surprise there was an article on having a party for your furry child's birthday. Now what I am wondering is who do you really invite. Okay I already have five cats in my house why in the heck would I invite more. Hey they may like it here and decide not to leave. An with the oldest female and the Siamese thinking they are both the dominate cat, ya invite more cats to celebrate. So what do you suppose I am to serve. Liver pate, cavaier, and fresh cow's milk. What games do you play, certainly not pin the tail on the donkey, or any of the other things you do at parties. How about a clown? Clowns scare me, so how would a cat react? Okay smear catnip on the clown and maybe he or she would be a big hit. NO,I AM THINKING PARTIES FOR YOUR FURRY CHILDREN IS NOT SUCH A GREAT IDEA. As it is my children say I am one cat shy of being a crazy cat lady, why invite a psychological evaluation. If you choose to have a party let me know how it goes. Happy Birthday furry babies.

Silence of the Cats

Most days it is crazy when I walk in the door. I work long hours and when I arrive I have many tasks to do before I can relax. Today was not the exception. But for some reason everyone settled down rather quickly. Wonder what is up. Possibly they are storing up energy to make midnight attacks and cause a general ruckus. This does happen on occasion. My favorite is when the two male cats run through the house and not lightly. They sound like a small herd of elephants. Really this can wake you up from a dead sleep. They start at one end of the house run through the living room to the kitchen up on the counter and back down again. The thump on the floor is unnerving. Or the cat who jumps on the refrigerator and then jumps down on the gas stove with a crash as the grates rattle, oh and I have to remove the knobs as like small children they have been known to turn on the gas. Well anyway I am grateful for the small reprieve of peace and quite for what ever small moment I can get. So you still want a cat?

Catattitudes

All I need when I come home is cats with attitudes. Everyone thinks that they should be petted adored and feed the minute I walk through the door, funny thing is I think they know the minute that I am about to pull in the driveway. My son said that he always knew when I would be home as there would be a gathering of the furry ones at the door. At least one cat is sitting on the entry table when I open the door, sometimes this is a bit creepy. Today everyone is a bit testy, the black cat is chasing my little Sophia (she has been under the weather lately, another days story). He runs after her and at his size makes two and a half of her. My Momma tabby Jezzebel is hissing and spitting at Phantom the Siamese cat. All he has to do is get within three feet of her, and this happens. It is especially funny when he side hops towards her, this really ticks her off, ears flatten and snarling ensues. I usually have to rescue him. Then there is the adorable Jinx who thinks that she must help write this, so be it. Have a splendid evening.

Cats and Holidays

I am a huge Halloween nut. It is my favorite holiday, maybe that is because there is a bit of witch in me, and now of course I have a black cat. The problem with having cats and a large assortment of holiday decorations I really have to be careful of where I put things. Cats are curious, and anything that looks like food, fake rats with long tails, feathered crows and anything that can move is fair game for my furry friends. I have the rattling skeletons, furry bats with long sharp claws, witches brooms and more. All of these I like to put out but the cats find great joy in chewing, knocking over and trying to jump up to create chaos. Most of these things are dangerous to your furry babies, so as I try and figure out where I am going to put out the things I enjoy, I am chasing cats out of skeleton garland, taking away furry rats and spiders out of there reach. Oh ya if you have children, once in awhile to keep them on there toes, stick glow in the dark items on there walls which they only see when the lights are off, and my favorite sticking creepy crawling things in their beds. Since most of them never make the bed they will never know until bedtime. Have fun enjoy your day.

Box Cats

Cats like boxes for many reason's, doesn't matter what size. Jezzebel likes a box a bit bigger than she is. She will crawl into it and sleep, watch the world go by and plan her attacks on the other cats. But give her a box with some wiggle room and then the fun begins. Just close the flaps on the box and other cats really must know what is in the box, usually not remembering that they actually saw another cat go into it. Or maybe they did. First they sniff it to see whats in it, then they may start to circle it to see how to best attack it. Meanwhile the cat in the box remains quite till the other cat or cats try to jump on top of the box, then the cat who is inside can no longer contain herself and tries to stick a paw out, which provokes outside cat. Jezz get off the keyboard, no leave the mouseeee alone. These things happen when the cat tries to help type. Anyway just get a box, preferably a clean one, nothing from the produce or meat dept. at your local grocery store and watch the fun begin. add a bit of catnip to that box and watch kitty play.

I'm laying on my back, pet me!

Jezzebel has this habit of laying on her back and crossing her front paws. She then stares at you till you get on the floor and rub her belly. Now after a long day at work the last thing I really want to do is get on the floor and rub her highness belly, but I will. Cats like to have a soothing rub down on occasion, just as humans do. Just start at their shoulders and work down their backs, they love it. Brushing a cat also has the same effect unless you have a cat who would rather chew on the brush, which I have one or two who prefer that, or the one who once you start, make no other plans for awhile, as she thinks this is tops and you need never stop. Kitties are a lot of work, but I would never trade the comfort they give me and the companionship. Yes I talk baby talk to them, aw well it is what it is. Cat Happy.

Jeckel

As you may have noticed I spoke about Jeckel earlier this week. I'm sure you are thinking how can he be clumsy but still walk across a nightstand and be so quite. Well if any of you can figure it out let me know. He is still a loveable big clumsy boy. Thought I would just interject this in case anyone was thinking I forgot what I had already wrote. Thanks all and enjoy your pet children.

Black Cat Blues

Jeckel has been feeling a bit unloved lately. When this happens he is all over anyone who will pay attention to him. Today is my day. I have petted snuggled and brushed him. This has not been enough for him today. If you can only imagine having a 24 pound cat jumping on you when you are trying to do something such as checking your email, well it is almost funny. He at most times is not an agile cat, he is rather clumsy. When he wants his belly rubbed he plots down on the floor with a thud and rolls on his back, this is not an easy feat for such a big cat. No he is not overfeed, he is just a very big cat, long and tall. He is the classic black cat with kinda spooky yellow eyes that on occasions turn a green color. The perfect cat for Halloween except he is scared of his own shadow, the furry mice if they are thrown his way, thunder storms (boy can he get into small places when that happens)and sudden movements. The one thing he does like is these furry little pompoms that you can buy for cats. He will bat them all over and carry them around, especially funny when he carries the pink one around the house in his mouth. Black Cats Rule.

Feed me, pet me.

Today all I wanted to do when I came home was to relax with a cup of coffee and check out my email. Oh no that did not happen, first the Queen wanted the water turned on in the bathroom, only the freshest water will touch her lips. Then Phantom wanted me me me time, only me, rubbing against my leg, pawing me and just generally being himself. Wait I will pet you in a minute, stop that's my coffee your knocking over. So much for 2 bucks a cup. Gotta learn how to make coffee. Black Cat or Jeckel is trying to jump up to the highest cupboard only to do back flips off the counter. Ya I know on the counter, that's what disinfected wipes are for. Jinx has now tried to answer my phone for the second time, she loves the music, and in the process knocked it on the floor. Sophia is trying to avoid the vacuum cleaner that is not running. She is deathly afraid of it and all you have to do is get it out. Good grief all this chaos makes me tired, think I'll take a nap with a cat or two.

Pet Parents

Dear Pet Parents I just want to share something with you that I found very upsetting. Today on my way home I saw a black cat laying in the road. He had been hit. Please if you have precious pets remember they are like children. They depend on you for food, water, love and attention and to keep them safe. I understand some people keep outdoor animals and that they wander, but really it is so heartbreaking to see them in the road ran over by someone who probably really couldn't avoid it. Your children are depending on you to keep them safe just as your cat or dog do. I leave you with this thought... there are so many unwanted animals in the world, please get your pets fixed. There are resources for low income pet parents to get help. Please call your local shelter or rescue shelter and ask them to guide you to that help. Enjoy your kitties and dogs, love your children and make a difference.

Stylin with cat hair.

Even if someone doesn't know you they know you have cats. Cats leave their fur everywhere. your clothes, hair, in your coffee cup. Not my food though. I have lint rollers in various places in my house. Before I cook I wipe everything down, rewash pans check the plates, you get the drift. I like dark clothes, so does cat fur. Somethimes I just give up and live with it. It's amazing how I can leave the house cat fur free and get somewhere and it has magically appeared. So to be a cat person you just need to deal with cat fur everywhere, have a good bagless vaccum, lots of lint rollers and love of your furry friends, you kinda just forget about the little inconviences. Enjoy.

Cats and Privacy part 2

On occasion I have come home and found my dresser drawer open and various articles of clothing on the floor, okay its always my underware. Jezzebel loves to climb up the dresser drawers and open them, it's a feat, I've seen it. I have even tryed to keep them shut with rope. doesn't work. Having a cat makes nothing in your house safe. Lock up your jewelery, cats are facinated by shiny objects, cat burglers are real. I have lost so many earrings and rings because cats don't respect your privacy or your stuff. Speaking of stuff do you know how much stuff pet stores sell for cats, mice, catnip, various toys you think your cat wants, all nonsense, because cats only want your stuff, anything not locked down in the bsthroom on your dresser on the kitchen counter. Look under the stove because thats where its at if it's missing. CATS!

Cats and Privacy

Seriously if you have children you will get this. Don't ever leave the bathroom door ajar when you are using it. If I do and am taking a shower I automaticaly have a cat on the rim of the tub using it to tackle water as it hits the curtain. Occasionaly a cat will land in the tub, not a pretty sight. In the morning it is a race to see which cat can get on the counter first while I get ready for work. This involves a cat sitting on the counter while I try and brush my teeth, once in awile they get in the way of spitting if I'm not quick enough to move whoever is in the way. Getting dressed is another problem, don't leave the drawer open to long on the dresser as someone always thinks its a good place to be, especially the cat who enjoys flinging my underware all over the floor. So you still what a cat, sure it's a great idea.

Black Cat Blues

Jeckel is a very large cat. So imagine having 24 lbs of cat sitting on your head at 3:30 in the morning. All I can say is it is something to wake up to, having a stealthy cat jump on your nightstand walk onto the bed and be on your pillow above your head. And not wake up until he meows in your face. Black cat has a slight dandruff problem, he has very dry skin, so of course I really don't want him on my pillow by my head. But all in all he just wanted some attention and I found that he can get on the bed without me even knowing it. Just how can a cat that large move so quite, I have yet to figure it out. He never moves anything on the nightstand doesn't knock anything off of it either. Hey maybe a webcam, then I could see what they are all doing while I sleep, naw maybe I would rather not know.

Jinx Arrival

I had decided that Jezzebel needed a kitty of her own. Really. Jinx arrive in much the same way as Jezzebel, in her case she was due to go to the shelter as the owner couldn't find a home for her. I fell head over heels in love with her. Jinx is a fluffy calico with a very bushy tail. She is a very loveable even natured cat, she likes everyone and doesn't make much fuss. We have a nightly ritual where I go to bed and she comes and winds her way around my head, getting fur all over my face. Ya sometimes not so great, all that fur. Jezzebel loves her sissy as we call her and at times they will curl up together and lick each others faces, unless of course Jezzebel is having her old lady moments. Then hissing and spitings insues. Then came Sophia, will leave this for another day. Have a wonderful cat filled day.

Oh Hiss

I suspose everyone is wondering how I managed to end up with five cats. It started with one. I went to the shelder and found a beautiful Tabby cat who was around a year old, it was to be her last day on earth. So I brought her home. Her name is Jezzebel and from that moment on she has been attached to my hip. When I'm happy, sad, tired or even have a cold she is my faithful friend. She is all knowing and it occurs to me that she can anticipate my next move. Just before the alarm goes off in the morning a paw is swating me in the head and the meowing gets loud. The day begins early and just as I go out the door, of course she is in my spot on the bed. Hey someone needs to get some sleep around here. Jezzebel is the Queen of her domain, and probably mine as well. I do not own her, she owns me. She likes furry mice, straws are great fun and no pen is safe.

Cat Claws and Whiskers

There are ten paws in my house that currently need to be clipped. Let me explain the process to you. If you are a mom and had to clip those tiny baby nails, you'll understand how nerve racking it can be. well at least at my house. The first thing I do is call my daughter in law who graciously comes over (I say this but really believe she wishes her mother in law would get a grip)and helps. Okay she does it while I wrestle cats from under beds closets and assorted other locations. First off we try to get Momma Cat Aka Jezzebel to coopertate. This is done by holding her rather tightly against my body while she hisses and spits. Then daugher in law proceeds to clip nails, not a pretty sight if I can't keep Jezz still. Blood has been drawn. In the meantime Sophia has jumped on top of the highest cupboard, we save her for last if I have a streagth left to get her down. Next might come the 24 pound black cat, or Jeckel as he is called, do you know what a cat of this size is like to keep calm when he has already heard Jezzebel screaming about getting her nails clipped. Well when all is said done I'm happy cats not so much.

Good Grief cat mom

It's Monday afternoon, and I just know when I walk in the door not one not two but five cats will be waiting. Waiting to be feed, petted and fawned over. I am bone tired but awww the furry little bundles of joy, wait wait wait did I say joy? If anyone is thinking of getting a furry little kitten think again. Did I hear or rather know that three cat boxes are calling my name. Scoop us. Oh hell the dog needs to go out, yes I said dog. forget about him, for now. Wait Jinx not on the key board. Oh darn cat hair on the screen, Jezzebel leave Jeckel alone, all he did was walk by you, and your on the table. Really Sophia the dog water dish is gross, don't drink that. Okay boys and girls you still want that cat? Check back tomarrow for what it is really like to have the furry devils in your house.
